Dr. Flavia Zacconi

Dr. Flavia Zacconi is an Associate Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her research focuses on sustainable organic synthesis and green chemistry, emphasizing the development of innovative methodologies and bioactive molecules. Her work contributes to advancing environmentally responsible and sustainable chemical technologies.

Committee Vice-President

Dr. Claudia Pabón

Professor in Sustainable Business and Circular Economy academic at the Faculty of Economics and Administration and the Institute for Sustainable Development at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sciences and in Production Ecology and Resource Conservation from Wageningen University (The Netherlands), where she also obtained her MSc in Environmental Sciences with distinction. Her current research focuses on impact modeling and measurement of the circular economy, circular and regenerative business models inspired by nature, and systemic transitions toward sustainability. She has also conducted research on urban circular metabolism, solid waste management, and decentralized sanitation systems.

Dr. Roberto Canales

Researcher in carbon dioxide capture and utilization, driving innovation in sustainable processes and conversion technologies for high-value chemical products.

Dr. Ady Giordano

Doctor in Chemistry, Associate Professor at the School of Chemistry, her research focuses on the development of advanced analytical methodologies, centered on the use of natural deep eutectic solvents as sustainable media for the extraction of molecules of interest for food applications.

Dr. Kelly Marrugo

Dra. Marrugo obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the Universidad del Zulia and a Master’s degree in Chemistry at IVIC, Venezuela. She obtained her PhD in Sciences with a specialization in Chemistry at Universidad de Concepción and is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Universidad Católica, Chile. She develops and investigates nanoparticle systems for targeted drug delivery and molecular imaging.

Dr. Francisco Castillo Suzarte

Francisco Castillo obtained his PhD in Chemistry from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research spans nanoscience, organic and inorganic synthesis, and medicinal chemistry, focusing on oxygen carriers. He is also engaged in developing audiovisual teaching materials and educational platforms.

Dr. Matías Monroy

Dr. Monroy earned her chemistry degree from the Universidad de Chile and her PhD in Research and Development of Bioactive Compounds from the Universidad de Talca. Her research focuses on the synthesis of bioactive compounds using green chemistry and the study of molecular properties using DFT.

Karla López obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the Universidad del Zulia, Venezuela. She is currently a PhD candidate in Biological and Medical Engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her research focuses on the development and optimization of lipid-based nanosystems for drug delivery.

Dr(c). José Vidal

José Ignacio Vidal received his degree in Chemistry from the Universidad Austral de Chile and is a doctoral student at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. His research focuses on the design and synthesis of heterocycles with applications in medicinal chemistry and other areas. His interests include organic chemistry, bioinformatics, and DFT modeling.
